Oops… Rick Santorum endorses Mitt Romney

On January 17, 2012, in GOP Candidates, by Eric Odom

2008 wasn’t that long ago and Mitt Romney’s campaign has a great memory. Which is why Mitt Romney’s campaign is running Robo-calls into South Carolina using Santorum’s words of strong support as the call script.

AUDIO TEXT: “This is an urgent message from the Romney campaign. In 2008, Rick Santorum made the following announcement on Laura Ingraham’s radio program.”

LAURA INGRAHAM: “Joining us now with an important announcement, you’re not going to want to miss this, former senator from the great state of Pennsylvania, Rick Santorum.”

RICK SANTORUM: “If you’re a conservative, there really is only one place to go right now. I would even argue farther than that. If you’re a Republican, if you’re a Republican in the broadest sense, there is only one place to go right now, and that’s Mitt Romney.”

LAURA INGRAHAM: “Senator Rick Santorum endorsing Mitt Romney unequivocally, without hesitation, that should mean something to all of you. Senator Santorum, thank you so much.”

AUDIO TEXT: “This call was paid for by Romney For President, Inc.”

I found the entire audio clip of the Laura Ingraham interview with Rick Santorum and you can watch/listen to it below.

Kind of hard to run against a candidate you endorsed and supported the last time around, don’t you think?

    Not at all for several logical reasons;

    1) Santorum was a loyal Republican who was not running himself
    2) Santorum was a loyal Republican endorsing whom he believed to be the best remaining candidate based on his available information.
    3) His endorsement was four years ago and multiple factors now lead him to believe he is the superior candidate (whether he is correct or not.)

  2. rev.larry says:

Nah, it aint hard at all…Santorum has learned some things in 4 years that changed his mind…happens all the time.

BTW, I made my comments BEFORE reading what talonspoint said…to which I agree. Way-2-Go Talonspoint!

Rick Santorum is a good man with many good points of veiw… and a few questionable ones. He had it right back then, as we all painfully observed with McCain taking the nomination.

  4. To throw another twist into the election pot–Sarah Palin endorses Newt Gingrich in South Carolina. I take this with a grain of salt — I for one have lost some respect for Palin. She should have been out front supporting the tea party candidates such as Michele Bachmann. Maybe with all her new wealth — she has other interests now! I pray that she hasn’t fallen into the devil’s deceptions. Most of these candidates have flip floped on something or another. I hope we don’t wind up with a Washington elite. My personal thoughts which God has enabled me to use — not meaning to step on anyones toes — some are determined to persuade us to vote for their choice!!!

    • ROSEY KIDD says:

I do not trust or like Sarah Palin. She thinks she knows alot Very loud like Newt.
No person from the washington eletist is for me .
I want someone who will do this country good.
You make a choice to work and provide for your family .and create jobs.
Thse fools who are following Sarah Palin is going to cost us the election.

  5. Santorum wasn’t running in 2008. He’s running now And what BomoRomney is doing now is dirty politics.

  6. Phyllis Poole says:

It depends on who was running against Romney. If Obama for instance was running against him, of course Romney MIGHT be the better choice. I emphasize might because I don’t feel there’s much difference between the two.
Has anyone asked Romney, if he becomes president -when he repeals the Obama healthcare , that was a copy of the one Romney put together AND his advisors went to DC to help with the Obama one – will he put another together just as bad or worse???
Romney is a liar. He has changed all his positions from really liberal to really conservative now??? I can’t believe that and knowing that anyone can run on any ticket they please and can say anything to convince people to follow them I don’t trust anyone -except for their background.
Look at all the contenders backgrounds -Paul is a libertarian but wouldn’t have gotten a shot at followers on that ticket. Romney gets more votes from democrats than republicans (NH proof) so why is that?
Newt is pretty much following his background except for abortion -maybe he’s changed. Santorum is the only one who is steadfast, straightforward and has proven his positions by his life.

    • ROSEY KIDD says:

Phyllis .all of them have changed their minds on something or the other ,NH is mostly independents ,like me .
General election comes around both parties need us.who can make a good case for us.
58%of women will not vote for Newt.or Santorum .

    • Paul Z. says:

Phyllis, please get the facts on Romney before you compare him to Oblamer and call him a liar. You can’t just listen to sound bites from opposing candidates and the Liberal Media! You could check his record on many issues and as President he would NOT have the Federal Government make Health Care policy but leave it up to the individual States. He Governed as well as possible in the super Liberal State of Mass, where 85% of the legislatures are Liberal Democrats that he fought every step of the way and had many vetos.

  7. Janet Lawrence says:

The only canidate that hasn’t flipflopped is Ron Paul nor can they find any dirt on him. Perhaps this is the reason that the media, even Fox, especially O’Reily, blantently ignores that he is a canidate.

  8. Paul Z. says:

I had said many times over the years, if Gov. Romney had been the nominee insteat of McAmnesty McCain, Obama wouldn’t be the President right now, and we wouldn’t have all the debt & spending and socialism we now have. A Romney/Santorum ticket would be excellent.
